Ryan Scoble

In September 2023, Ryan Scoble launched “Lax for Life” to promote organ donation awareness through organized lacrosse events. His journey began during his junior season when he was diagnosed with heart failure, ultimately leading to a life-saving heart transplant. Gratefully receiving this second chance, Ryan demonstrated remarkable determination by returning to the lacrosse field just over a year later. He also shares his experience through speaking engagements, inspiring others with his story of persistence and resilience as he advocates for the importance of organ donation and the gift of life. 

Steve Scoble*

Steve Scoble is retired.  He has over 30+ years of experience in the Educational Technology/Publishing industry where he served roles in Sales, Sales Management, Marketing, Marketing Management and Product Development. Steve’s a graduate of Canisius University and Veteran of the United States Air Force where he received the Air Force Achievement Medal for Meritorious Service.  In his free time, Steve likes to exercise, play golf, travel and hang out with family, friends and his two dogs. Steve is a heart transplant recipient and received his heart from Vanderbilt University Medical Center in September of 2021.

Bob Betcher*

Bob Betcher is a dedicated lacrosse coach and community leader with a long-standing commitment to the sport. A heart transplant recipient from Cleveland Clinic in Weston, FL, Bob received a new lease on life on May 10, 2023, and continues to actively give back to the lacrosse community.

Career Highlights: Bob started coaching at Three Village Youth Lacrosse and played at The Ward Melville High School, where his team won two Long Island Championships and several state titles. He was inducted into the Ward Melville Athletic Hall of Fame in 2009. Bob played at Ohio Wesleyan University from 1984 to 1987, becoming a four-year varsity starter, OWU Century Club member, and reaching the NCAA Division III National Championship finals.

Bob’s coaching career includes roles at SUNY Stony Brook, Duke University, and various youth travel teams, including Tenacious Turtles. He led St. Andrew’s School to district and state honors in recent years.

Mentoring: Bob also conducts NCAA recruiting seminars, guiding over 150 student-athletes and their parents at notable schools across the country.

Matthew Sherman*

Matt Sherman comes from Rochester, NY who is currently a Staff Accountant at a Fortune 500 company in the beverage alcohol industry. His team works on financial reporting for the business on a month-to-month basis, in line with SEC requirements.

He attended Mercyhurst University in Erie, PA where he studied in Accounting and Finance and received his Master of Science in Organizational Leadership. Matt was also a member of the Men’s lacrosse team for four years.

Outside of work, Matt enjoys staying active, hiking, camping and spending time with his family, friends, and two golden doodles. He travels and looks to experience new things while volunteering and looking to give back to the community.

Heather Greenway*

Originally from Buffalo, New York, Heather has been involved in lacrosse since age five. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and Sport Business, with a minor in Communications from Mercyhurst University. Currently a Marketing manager at TeamBuildr and manages events and the product teambuildr practice which helps sport coaches plan practice.

Heather’s experience includes roles as a Digital Media Intern and Coordinator of Athletic Operations at Mercyhurst, where she managed social media for athletic teams and coordinated game day operations. She also interned with the Buffalo Bills, supporting their social media and content initiatives.

As a lacrosse athlete and President of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee at Mercyhurst, Heather advocated for over 725 athletes and contributed to the student-athlete community.
